Imagine having to choose between buying food and clothes or crayons, pens, scissors, paper and a notebook for your school-age child! Each year, many parents look at the brightly colored "Back to School" banners with dread as they face exactly these choices. The average cost of school supplies per child has grown to almost $39 per child. Add socks and underwear and even one new outfit and the cost is now beyond many parents who are already struggling to pay for rent, gas and medical check-ups! The Little Red Schoolhouse Project (www. redschool.org) was founded in response to this need. Our goal is to see every child start school with basic school supplies, 3 sets of clean socks & underwear, a backpack and 2-3 outfits of new or clean used clothes. How can I help? Clean out your family closets for wearable items or pick up extra clothing or school supplies (such as lined paper, 3-ring binders, rulers, crayons, child-size scissors, pencils, and backpacks) when you're shopping with your kids -- or donate cash to buy new socks, underwear or backpacks. Mixx 96.1 Back-to-School Drive! Please
donate clothing, school supplies, and cash Friday, August 10.
Mixx 96.1 will be taking your donations from our live broadcast
site on the corner of State and Washington in downtown Olympia
