Dear Station Manager:
I would like to recognize a special group of people. With the storm
we just had and other storms in the past when roads are unsafe and
power is out. The rain is coming down hard and the wind is blowing.
Or the snow is falling fast there is a special group who needs to
be congratulated. These are the nurses of Providence Sound Home
Care. Inspite of all the adverse conditions they have continued
to make their house calls and care for those of us who rely on them
and their care. I know they listen to your station for road conditions.
My nurse refused to be put off by the horrible conditions on the
bad storm day and arrived on time with no concern for her safety.
She just wanted to see that I was OK. Just thought you should know
that along with the road crews and PSE workers and Coast Guard fliers
we have a great group of Nurses who continue to care about their
patients and do their job.
Sincerely
Martha
I have been a loyal listener since 1989. I moved
here from the Republic of Panama, Central America to beautiful downtown
Fort Lewis, Washington. I physically arrived here with my family
in March and I elected to move to Olympia. Finding a radio station
that not only entertains but provides critical local information
is imperative to me. The variety of stations in this area was pleasing
but I continued to explore for MY STATION.
Imagine my surprise when I found you all. Your station was a budding
new station and the quality of your Dee Jays, your music selection
and at that time Gene Cantrell, the then Freeway Hero, were all
factors that lead me to select MIXX as my home station. I was stationed
at Fort Lewis from 1989 until I retired in 1995. I can't tell you
how many times, MIXX 96.1 helped me.
You helped to keep my spirits up after an initial bout of cancer
diagnosed Dec 15, 1992; we overcame the 1993 inaugural ball storm
and related power outage, although I lost three trees; together
we again overcame another different site cancer bout in 1994; we
survived the 1995-6 Christmas season which ended up costing me 17
trees; and I can still list other events.
During my cancer episodes, my family would play MIXX on any radio
they could find because they discovered that your station always
soothed me even during the hardest part of treatment. Your station
was a source for laughter and tears, smiles and encouragement even
if you didn't know about it but we did. As you can tell, I'm a survivor.
I've been cancer free since 1996.
I have experienced the changes in your staff and some of the modifications
that normally transpire in any organization but the essence of your
station's spirit remains and I thank the Almighty that you have
survived the changes and continue to be your unique self. RP and
Ann, Smiling Jay (I have two tee-shirts sorely worn), Dave Mann,
Sean Murray, are my mainstay.
I'm one of the many nameless individuals who contribute during your
Christmas and Back to School fund drives. Your station always gives
back to the community sometimes without even being aware of it.
Thank you for your excellent staff, fine programming, and your commitment
to your community.

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy listening to Ann and RP
in the morning on my way to work from Wauna to Olympia. They make
the hour long drive actually enjoyable even at 5:30 am!
Freeway hero Jack has been a Godsend more than once. All of you at
Mixx 96 are terrific!
Thank you,
Fran Rankin

Hi, just read your list of the
top 96 soft rock songs of all time. While I agree with the vast
majority of your selections, I can't help but be disappointed
in the absence of Air Supply from the list. At the very least,
I would think that "Lost in Love" is in the top 20,
but also they have a very good version of "The Power of Love,"
which you put in for Celine Dion, and which you credit to Jennifer
Rush. I admit that I do not know who actually wrote the lyrics
and music to that song; however, I believe the Air Supply version
is an excellent one. I hope you will redo your list with this
in mind. However, if you don't, that's ok too. -Raymond North
Thank you very much for such a wonderful station.
I'm a shift worker and listen to Mixx 96 both at home and at work.
It's very clear that your staff enjoys what they are doing!!!
I especially enjoy Sean Murray's relaxed tone in the evenings.
Keep up the GREAT work!
Debbie, Loyal Listener in Longview
I have been listening to your station since about 1997 or so. I love
the variety and the fact that I never have to change the station when
my 4 year old daughter, Karissa, is in the car. That is so refreshing
to know that there is a local station that cares enough to send me
a birthday card every year, and emails every week! I also went to
your Birthday Bash this year and that was SO much fun! I won the 'hula
hoop' earrings and my daughter had such a blast with the hula hoops.
I wear my beautiful earrings all the time now. Thanks so much for
being a great radio station. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Mixx96 for remembering my birthday. I went to my mailbox
and you sent me a card and balloons. My 5 year old loved them. As
I am getting older, you made my day. We love your music. Thanks again,
Cheri
... Let me tell you how much of a hero
your radio station is. It is a very rough world and it is getting
harder and harder to find child and family-friendly entertainment.
On July 4th we went to a big party in our neighborhood and they
had a nice sound system set up in their backyard. And what were
they listening to? Mixx 96! We had all kinds of people there; little
kids, grandparents, and people who just wanted to have a good time.
We had a great time; playing horseshoes, eating too much, playing
with firecrackers, and listening to Mixx 96 all day long.
That's not all ... we have two cats [that get upset by loud fireworks].
We put them in their day room and put a small radio in their room
and what radio station kept our cats mellow? Mixx 96! See? You folks
are heroes! ... Thank you so much for being a station we can trust
and we can enjoy and we can hear; you're always clear and great
to listen to.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary A. Knopp

Thanks for the good work and the closure
updates and the traffic reports. Your staff is phenomenal!! --Vickie
I just wanted to give you some positive
feedback. Too often, we only hear the negatives from the public.
As a Loyal Listener I would like to say your station has done a
fantastic job on reporting road conditions, school closures, etc.
I have listened to your station at home and work since you were
first on the air. I love you guys. WAY TO GO MIXX 96. -- Yvonne
I wanted to thank the Mixx96 staff
for your reporting on traffic problems. I have been saved from massive
waits in traffic by you guys. Last Monday there was an accident
on I-5 at exit 108 and I got lost trying to bypass it off
exit 105. I received great help when I called Mixx96 getting me
back on the freeway at exit 109.
Really appreciate your help!

Last
Thursday my co-worker sent an email asking for tickets to the Bob
the Builder show for my son and I. You were gracious enough to comply...not
with just plain'o tickets, but front row, VIP tickets!!
My son is 4 years old, and developementally
delayed. He's such a great sport about it!! His teacher says he's
a sweetie, "not a mean bone in his body"; but recently
I've seen him get shunned but some of his classmates at Day care
because he can't communicate well enough to really participate in
their games. He still takes it in stride, just finds something to
play by himself, but I can still see the hurt and confusion in his
eyes and it just makes me want to weep even thinking about it.
On our last trip to my parents' house,
Brandon, my son, learned that his favorite Grammpa's name was Bob,
too. He got to spend some time playing with the Leatherman tool
he keeps on his belt, just like the tool belt that Builder Bob wears!
The whole Bob the Builder thing became even cooler then!!
We've been having a rather rough time
of it lately, and with all these factors taken into consideration,
when I heard about the show, I SSOOO wanted to take Brandon, but
knew there was no way to eak the cost of those tickets out of our
budget!! So when Vicki handed me the tickets I nearly started crying
right here in the office! Brandon had a great time, and I took tons
of great pictures!! I wanted to thank you all again for your generosity...it
might seem like a small thing, but it really brightened our weekend
incredibly!! I've attached a couple of pictures so you can see the
great fun we had!!
Sara
I never thought of communicating with
you, but wanted to let you know that for several years now, we listen,
primarily in the evening hours, and have most enjoyed Shawn [Sean]
Murray & his intelligent & insightful nature.
His tone is one that both relaxes us & makes us glad that we
have such a great station here in Port Orchard. Unlike many, who
talk needlessly about things that are of interest to only them,
Shawn seems to be talking to us, directly, and that is impressive.
My husband & I really appreciate being included in his shows.
To be included as a friend, or family member. Shawn does that very
well, and we thank you for his showmanship. His news items are worthy
of a larger station, because they deal with matters of importance
to us all. Not just small talk. Traffic, weather & music items
of interest. Nice.
Please keep up the great work. Your station has become a standard
in our cars & at home in the evening, thanks to Shawn [Sean]
Murray & his style.
Sincerely yours,
Alice & Harry Garret

I have been listening to your station
since it started back in.... 1990-ish? I listen to it all day long
at work! Nice easy listening, just enough chit chat, and I love
your "Freeway Hero." Thanks for being a special part of
my life. -- Eilis, Olympia
... Just wanted to let you know that
I have come to enjoy your radio station these few weeks that I have
been here. WOW!!! I used to always listen to 106.9 in the car, since
I was only able to get radio in the vehicle and not the house. At
my new place, you channel comes in nicely. I am so pleased with
your music selection, news information and congenial humor of your
radio announcers. I find myself tuning to Mixx 96.1 even in the
vehicle now. Thanks for such a great job! Love how you call your
traffic guys "Heroes"...as they are since they keep the
traffic flowing and lives are saved. :) Loyal Listener with smiles
of thanks and gratitude ~ Lisa
Hi John
Kudos to you and the Mixx96 staff for helping the food bank and
the Habitat for Humanity. I am a volunteer at the food bank and
in the past volunteered with HfH. Both are great organizations and
both in need of the community help and support. Thanks to all of
you for helping out. Have a great weekend. ~Meredith
I love listening to you 'guys' especially
in the mornings and also in my car on my way home in the evenings.
I especially like your traffic reports because they provide me with
very important travel tips. THANX for making my days more enjoyable
and safer. - Elaine Saucier, Tacoma
Thank you all at Mix 96 for the nice
birthday card and balloons. What a wonderful surprise to come home
from work after listening to you all day & find you in my mail
box, as well. You're not only fun to listen to, but kind & considerate
as well. You help make a cold job in the cannery, a lot more pleasant.
Thank you all, for all the hours of enjoyment you have given me.
Merry in Astoria, OR
Well another year and my favorite radio
station sent me a card signed by all of you. Wow...how special....and
I had to write and tell you how much it was appreciated. I live
alone, am 55 (and admitting it now too lol) and have no family to
celebrate my birthday with. So....YOU all are my family this year....you've
just been adopted. You have no idea over the past year going through
all the health problems I have had to face just what a difference
"knowing" you all and enjoying every second of the station
has meant. I used to be a dj after college and loved it...then life
sidetracked me....I miss it. Anyway...back to my thanks.....I know
you send these to everyone that is on your list....but this is the
only birthday card I will get this year...as last year and it means
a lot. I want you to know I wish you all good health, happiness,
peace and love for a longggggg time. I'll be listening...:-)..and
enjoying as always.
Sincerely,
Sandra L. Wofford

I look forward to your next correspondence.
Your station does an excellent job of making the listeners feel
appreciated...This is returned many fold by Mixx's growing listener
population. I hope us listeners repay in-kind our appreciation and
demonstrate how valuable Mixx 96 is to our community. Again, Thank
you Mixx 96.
A loyal listener,

I never leave the house without tuning
in Mixx 96. I live in Chehalis and the traffic to Olympia can sometimes
be terrible. I just tune in Mixx 96 and if there is an accident
or slowdown on I-5 heading north to Olympia, I know about it in
advance, and can always take alternate routes. It has saved me many
times!! Thanks! I love you guys, and we listen to you in our office
in Chehalis - United Way of Lewis County. -- Debbie
I am so happy to be a member on line as well as
on the radio waves. Even though I live in Kent, I only listen to
your station. ... I found your station by accident and have been
listening to it ever since. ... I listen to RP and Anne on the way
to work in the morning and love Jack Archer. Those guys interplay
so well. At any rate, I am so glad you and your station are in existence.
AND you play MY kind of music.
A loyal listener,
Linda

A very Handsome young man [Chad] just delivered
my Valentine Basket to me from you through How - About - A - Basket.
Very nice. I didn't know what to expect. And Ann did a great job
reading my poem over the air. A Big "THANK YOU" to you
all.

Hi, my name is Brandy and I wanted to write you
and tell you how well you are all doing. I love kxxo. I listen to
you guys all the time. It makes me feel at home when I'm away from
home. It's nice having a radio station where you're all so down
to earth and have a sense of reality. Where other stations don't
care about their listeners you all do. My favorite is Sean Michael
Murray. During the day I also love listening to Smilin Jay. I recently
moved with my boyfriend and the only wanting me to stay here is
this radio station, but now we're back living here. I'm only 19
years old, but I have to tell you I love the variety and all of
you. Thank you for just being the best radio station there is in
the northwest.

John - Just a brief note to say thank you so much
for the great time at the Emerald Queen Casino birthday bash. I
have attended several years and this year was my first year to win
something!!! I won the Bulova watches for bringing a boiled egg!
Many kudos to Mixx96's sponsors and of course all of you who make
it happen! My family looks forward to another great year of radio.

Thank you for always remembering my birthday and other special holidays.
It is nice to come home and in the mail is a surprise card/greeting..
that can make a bad day into a good day with the simplest gesture.

Hi! This is such a cool newsletter! Great work!
I really enjoy getting it. I listen to mixx96 24 hrs a day, and
im not kidding, there is at least one radio in house with it on
all day, I sleep listening to it, great music! (but you need to
play "Follow me" more! by Uncle Kracker!!!!) I do alot
of traveling going north, and I love listening to Jack! I see alot
of
what he is talking about, and he has saved me alot of time on the
freeway by taking different routes, and plus he is so funny! and
its great that I can get Mixx at least clear to Des Moines, and
further! Keep up the great work! A loyal fan,
