I came from the sunny coast of Southern California where I was raised and lived for a good 23 years. Most people wonder, why move up here? Well, I respond, after you've seen the sun 24/7 for your entire life, with a couple of raindrops here and there, it's an amazing change, and I couldn't be happier. The fresh green forests; crisp air; gorgeous mountains; and wonderfully diverse people are just some of the things that bring a smile to my face every day. It's a wonder to be a part of this family, and I'm excited to meet new people and learn new things every day. I've always believed that knowledge is a great tool, and I strive to learn new things every day. I've been an actor, singer, computer networker, counselor, poker dealer, writer of poetry and stories, a father to an angel, and always a great friend. I am thrilled to now be in radio, as it's just one more experience that I honor in my knowledge banks. Thank you for listening to us - and being a part of our family.

I grew up in Michigan and spent several years in Texas where I got my first radio job in 1980. I moved to the Olympia area in 1993 where I am also a researcher for an industry publication. For fun, I like being on Mixx 96.1, doing community radio (KAOS) in Olympia, collecting music, catching movies at the Olympia Film Society, and following Mariners baseball. My wife (Gina) and I have three daughters between us: Mirelle, Emily and Ina. They are smart young women and a blast to hang out with.

"The Rick Johnson Story" would make a boring movie! I'm a Buffalo, NY native (go Bills!) and have been in the radio business (in one way or another) for the last 20+ years. My wife and I moved to the Great Northwest 10 years ago and we share our home with two of the most loving cats known to mankind. And like RP I love to hit the stores and find a good bargain on tech stuff! Thanks for listening to Mixx 96.1! You can email me at mixx961@gmail.com

I'm 29-years old but I've worked in radio since 1966 so I look older! I've worked at a variety of radio stations from Oregon to near the Canadian border and have had the good fortune to get to "play" at Mixx 96.1 since about 1991. While I don't work at Mixx 96.1 that often, when I do I always have fun - and hope the listeners have as much fun as I do. My real job is at Foss High School in Tacoma where I teach some math classes, marketing, and media. I also taught Drivers' Ed at Tumwater High School between 1996 and 1999, which accounts for me having all that gray hair and looking older than 29!

John Foster
Program Director

Hi. I’m responsible for the music and DJs. It’s almost as fun as it sounds and a privilege to work with such talented people. My passions are playing basketball, listening to music (obviously) and baseball, reading, and spending time with my family: Dana (an artist, my beloved partner since 1979), Kajaat, 17 (basketball girl), Rama, 14 (social butterfly), our cats Rosewood and Olive, and our Australian Shepherd/Chow/German Shepherd mix Violet. I love living in Olympia. Write me at jsf@mixx96.com with any suggestions, compliments, or complaints.
